“Two independent voices of the Caucasus”

An event entitled “Two Independent Voices of the Caucasus”, dedicated to May 28 – Independence Day of Azerbaijan and May 26 – Independence Day of Georgia, was held through the joint initiative and organization of the Azerbaijan House operating in Marneuli, Georgia, and the Integration Centre for Azerbaijanis of Georgia (GAIM), with the support of the State Committee on Work with Diaspora of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The event was attended by Member of the Parliament of Georgia Zaur Darghalli, Mayor of Marneuli Daur Ismayilov, Mayor of Dmanisi Koba Muradashvili, representatives of local self-government bodies, Mufti of the Administration of All Muslims of Georgia Etibar Eminov, members of the local community, intellectuals, and young people.
The national anthems of Azerbaijan and Georgia were performed at the beginning of the event.
Director of the Azerbaijan House and GAIM Mahabbat Imanov highlighted the importance of the friendship and strategic partnership established between Azerbaijan and Georgia. He noted the joint celebration of the independence days of both countries as a clear expression of the mutual respect and shared values that unite the two peoples.
Member of the Parliament of Georgia Zaur Darghalli stated that May 26 and May 28 symbolize the historic achievements of the Georgian and Azerbaijani peoples on their path toward freedom, statehood, and national self-determination. He also recalled the historic contributions of National Leader Heydar Aliyev and former President of Georgia Eduard Shevardnadze to strengthening bilateral relations and expanding cooperation between the two countries.
Mayor of Marneuli Daur Ismayilov and Mayor of Dmanisi Koba Muradashvili emphasized that independence is the greatest treasure of any nation and underlined that the friendship, mutual trust, and strategic cooperation between Azerbaijan and Georgia make a significant contribution to regional development.
Mufti of the Administration of All Muslims of Georgia Etibar Eminov stressed the importance of independence, unity, and solidarity in the development of societies, noting that the Azerbaijani-Georgian brotherhood serves to further strengthen mutual understanding and trust between the two peoples.
The artistic part of the event featured performances of Azerbaijani and Georgian national dances by the Sarvan Folklore Ensemble, operating under GAIM. Performances by renowned artists Shaban Mammadov, Iamze Jgeli, Ramin Pirmammadov, and ashig Nargiz Mehdiyeva added a festive atmosphere to the celebration.
