Azerbaijan’s Independence Day Celebrated in Kiryat Yam

An event dedicated to Azerbaijan’s Independence Day was held in the city of Kiryat Yam, Israel.
The event was organized by Adam Amilov, Head of the “AzIz” Israel–Azerbaijan International Association and Deputy Mayor of Kiryat Yam, with the support of the State Committee on Work with Diaspora of the Republic of Azerbaijan and in partnership with the Kiryat Yam Municipality. The event was attended by numerous guests, including members of the Azerbaijani community, local residents, and public figures.
The event was hosted by Shaul Siman-Tov, the Executive Director of the “AzIz” Association.
Kiryat Yam Mayor David Even-Tzur spoke about the importance of the friendly relations between the two countries and highly appreciated the contributions of people of Azerbaijani origin to the social life of the city.
Adam Amilov expressed his gratitude to the State Committee on Work with Diaspora for its support. He noted that such gatherings contribute to preserving national and cultural values, bringing people together, and strengthening ties among communities.
Emil Shleymovich, Project Manager of the “AzIz” Israel–Azerbaijan International Association, spoke about the history of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic and drew attention to the fact that it was the first democratic republic in the Muslim East.
Shaul Siman-Tov emphasized that modern Azerbaijan’s policy of multiculturalism and tolerance is rooted in the traditions established during that period.
The cultural program began with a performance by the “Akvarel” dance group from Kiryat Yam. Accompanied by music performed by Rashid Behbudov, the group presented an Azerbaijani dance. Their performance was met with enthusiastic and sustained applause from the audience.
Performances in the Azerbaijani language by musicians Salman Rabayev and Sarit Yosef left a good impression on the guests.
Traditional Azerbaijani sweets were also served to the guests during the event.
