Residents of Gothenburg Provided Information About the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic

An event dedicated to May 28 – Independence Day was held in the city centre of Gothenburg, Sweden. The event was organized by the Azerbaijan Karabakh Centre with the support of the State Committee on Work with Diaspora of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Ulviyya Najafova, Coordinator for Gothenburg of the Coordination Council of Azerbaijanis in Sweden and Head of the Azerbaijan Karabakh Centre, conveyed her congratulations to our compatriots on this significant occasion, emphasizing that May 28 holds a special place in the history of Azerbaijani statehood. She also highlighted the important role of Azerbaijanis living abroad in preserving national identity, promoting cultural heritage, and passing them on to future generations.
A special stand showcasing Azerbaijan’s rich history, diverse culture, and the traditions of statehood was set up as part of the event. National symbols, publications, and various informational materials were displayed. Through brochures prepared in Swedish, participants received comprehensive information about the history of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic.
The cultural program featured performances of traditional Azerbaijani dances by the “Khari Bulbul” Dance Group. Their performances were met with great interest and enthusiastic applause. Poems recited by young compatriots, dedicated to the homeland, the ideology of Azerbaijanism, and national values, added emotional and spiritual depth to the event.
The event was of particular significance in promoting Azerbaijan’s historical truths, cultural heritage, and traditions of statehood to the international community, as well as in strengthening diaspora activity.
