Heir of Iravan Khan: "The best gift for my birthday was to gaze out towards Aghri Daghi Mountain from Nakhchivan, on the border of Iravan"

“I am glad to be in Nakhchivan. It is my first visit to Nakhchivan, unfortunately I can not visit Iravan, my ancestral homeland. I express my gratitude to the Committee for providing me with this opportunity”, said Amir Ali Sardari Iravani, the successor of Iravan Khan.

He spoke about the isolation of Nakhchivan from Azerbaijan with deep regret.

“I want to take this opportunity to talk about the separation of Iravan and Nakhchivan from Azerbaijan. Nakhchivan is isolated from the rest of Azerbaijan. While coming here by plane, we flew over Iravan and Goycha lake and I looked at my homeland from the sky. It was a very beautiful, but at the same time sad sight. Unfortunately, it is only possible to get here by plane. I was looking for an opportunity to come here through the Zangazur corridor. This was not possible. This time I came by plane, maybe next time I will be lucky”.

The heir of Iravan Khan has told that he wishes to go to his ancestral home.

“I was invited to Iravan several times by Armenians. Of course, it would be good to visit Iravan. But it would be very difficult for me to see the ruined homes of my ancestors. That's why the best gift for my birthday was to gaze out towards Agri Daghi Mountain from Nakhchivan, on the border of Iravan. I felt how close I was to my ancestors. I can't imagine that once my ancestors galloped there and fought with their enemies. It feels good to be here”.

It should be noted that, Amir Ali Sardari Iravani is a guest of the 4th Summer Camp of Diaspora Youth “Heydar Aliyev-100”, held in Nakhchivan. He delivered speech at one of the panel discussions held within the camp.
