Fuad Muradov held a series of official meetings in Vietnam

Within the framework of the visit to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Fuad Muradov Chairman of the State Committee on Work with Diaspora met with Nguyen Trung Kien, Chairman of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs, Le Thi Thu Hang, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam, Ta Quang Dong, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sport and Tourism. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Azerbaijan to Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia Shovgi Mehdizada attended the meeting.

Welcoming the guests warmly, Chairman of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs highlighted the history of political and diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Vietnam, as well as the mutual official visits of the heads of state, expressing his satisfaction at hosting representatives of the State Committee in Vietnam. He also mentioned that the book “What I Saw in Vietnam” by Azerbaijani film director Ajdar Ibrahimov, who laid the foundation of cinematography in Vietnam, would make a significant contribution to the development of cultural ties between the two countries.

Fuad Muradov shared his views on the prospects of relations between Azerbaijan and Vietnam, opportunities for cooperation within international organizations, and the integration of the Azerbaijani community into Vietnamese society. He provided information on diaspora policy focused on strengthening the unity of Azerbaijanis worldwide under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, and highlighted Azerbaijan’s growing influence in the Caucasus region and its contribution to the development of international relations. He also emphasized that the large-scale projects implemented by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation under the leadership of First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva and have further expanded the country’s cultural ties on the international stage.

During the meetings, the parties discussed the results of activities carried out by Azerbaijani diaspora organizations operating in more than 70 countries around the world, aimed at preserving the national and cultural identity of Azerbaijanis living abroad, uniting them on a common platform, and promoting the truth about Azerbaijan to the international community.

A video presentation about the activities of Azerbaijan Houses abroad, Coordination Councils, Weekend Azerbaijani schools, specialized forums, and cultural events implemented with the support of the Committee was followed with great interest.

Noting that more than 6 million Vietnamese live in over 130 countries, Deputy Foreign Minister Le Thi Thu Hang emphasized that Azerbaijan is a reliable partner and sincere friend for Vietnam. She stated that shared interests and mutual exchange of experience in the field of diaspora contribute to the organization and successful integration of compatriots living abroad. 

During his meeting with the Chairman of the Committee, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ta Quang Dong highlighted the importance of expanding cooperation between the two countries in cultural and humanitarian fields. He highly appreciated Azerbaijan’s rich experience in the diaspora sphere and noted the importance of studying this experience and using it effectively in future cooperation.

During the discussions, Azerbaijan’s new-generation diaspora initiatives attracted great interest. At the same time, best wishes were expressed for the activities of the Vietnam-Azerbaijan Friendship Society, which has made a significant contribution to the development of historically friendly relations between the two countries.

At the official meetings, Azerbaijan’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia, Shovgi Mehdizada, stated that Azerbaijanis living in Vietnam are always surrounded by the attention and care of the Azerbaijani state. He emphasized that such meetings make an important contribution to preserving and promoting national values.

The meetings concluded with discussions on prospects for developing cooperation in various areas of mutual interest and a broad exchange of views.
