The 6th Meeting of Heads of State Institutions Responsible for Diaspora Affairs of Member States of the Organization of Turkic States was held

The 6th meeting of the Heads of State Institutions Responsible for Diaspora Affairs of the Member States of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) was held in Tashkent, Republic of Uzbekistan, hosted by the Committee on Interethnic Relations and Friendly Relations with Foreign Countries under the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

During the meeting, the Deputy Secretary General of the OTS, Merey Mukazhan, and the heads of institutions engaged in extensive discussions on critical issues concerning the current state of the diasporas of the member countries. The parties emphasized strengthening cooperation and coordination in diaspora-related matters, enhancing the effectiveness of experience-sharing programs among relevant state institutions, increasing diaspora potential, and organizing the Turkic Diaspora Forum with the active participation of youth. Additionally, attention was given to ensuring broader involvement of representatives of Turkic diasporas in the OTS's youth, economic and academic initiatives.

Elshad Aliyev, Deputy Chairman of the State Committee on Work with Diaspora, delivered a speech highlighting the establishment of the Turkic Council was based on the Nakhchivan Agreement signed during the Summit of Heads of State of Turkic-speaking countries held in Nakhchivan. He noted that relations between Azerbaijan and other member countries of the OTS have recently become more intensive. Aliyev stated that bilateral and multilateral meetings, as well as various programs and forums held under the Joint Action Strategy of the Turkic Diaspora adopted within the framework of the OTS, contribute significantly to the expansion of these relations. Referring to the speech of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, at the 5th (Victory) Congress of World Azerbaijanis held in Shusha, he underscored the importance of preserving national identity and promoting Weekend schools accordingly.

During the meeting, it was agreed that the second experience-sharing program for representatives of institutions responsible for diaspora affairs of OTS member states would be held in Azerbaijan in 2025, and the third Capacity Building Training Program for Turkic Diasporas would take place in the Czech Republic.

As part of the event, an exhibition showcasing the cultures of Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan was organized.
