Our compatriots living in Canada, represented our country in three major parades

The Azerbaijani community living in Alberta, Canada, represented our country for the first time at the “Heritage Park Canada Day” and “Banff Canada Day” parades, and for the second time at the “Stampede” parade.

At the parades, a special vehicle decorated with national ornaments showcased symbols of our rich culture. The composition included a model of the Maiden Tower, an Azerbaijani carpet, flame models symbolizing the “Odlar Yurdu” (the Land of Fire), musical instruments and depictions of Karabakh horses and the Shusha Fortress.

The author of the project is Irada Shamilova, one of the leaders of the Azerbaijani community in Calgary. The composition was prepared by Aleks Gubski, an active member of the Calgary community, the “Azerbaijan Calgary Stars” dance group, and other volunteers.

According to Irada Shamilova, about 300,000 residents watched the group marching under the Azerbaijani flag and the sound of national music at the “Stampede” parade. The online audience of parade numbered around 5 million viewers. The community’s performance was welcomed with applause and brought joy and pride of the spectators.
