An international boxing tournament "Heydar Aliyev-100" was held in the German city of Magdeburg on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the birth of the founder of modern Azerbaijan, an outstanding politician and statesman Heydar Aliyev.

The tournament, organized by Heydar Aliyev World Boxing Committee (WBCA) and the Diaspora Boxing League (BLD). The national anthems of Germany and Azerbaijan were played.

Following the welcome remarks, the chairman of the State Committee, Fuad Muradov and the head of the local executive body Frank Nase declared the tournament open.

Then boxers representing Germany, Turkey, Georgia, Bulgaria, Montenegro, Finland and Poland entered the ring.

The Committee chairman presented the cup to our compatriot Rashad Karimov, who has won a victory over Nikoloz Berkatashvili.  

World Boxing Committee named after Heydar Aliyev, launched with the support of the State Committee on Work with Diaspora, aims to consolidate Azerbaijani athletes living in the world and to achieve hoisting of tricolour flag of Azerbaijan on the international arena.
