From the Cosmos to Lachin
5 August, 2024One of the two cosmonauts of Turkey, a participant of the 74th International Astronautical Congress held in Baku Tuva Cihangir Atasever, flew into space on June 8, has visited Azerbaijan at the invitation and organization of the State Committee on Work with Diaspora and become a guest at the 5th Summer Camp of Diaspora Youth held in Lachin.
The Youths have greeted the Turkish cosmonaut with continuous applause. The participants of the camp have highly appreciated Cihangir’s visit to the liberated lands of Azerbaijan, including Lachin, his participation in the camp, and his meeting with them. They have expressed their pride and joy in him raising and taking the Azerbaijani flag to space.
Tuva Cihangir Atasever has given detailed information to the participants of the camp about the flight into space and the scientific research he conducted there, and answered the questions that interested the youth.
It should be noted that Tuva Cihangir Atasever, one of Turkey’s first two astronauts selected from among 36,000 candidates of Turkey, is Azerbaijani on his mother's side. T.C. Atasever, who works as a system engineer at "Roketsan", has graduated from the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Bilkent University and has received a master's degree in electrical-electronics engineering from the University of California in Irvine.
