Finnish delegation visited Shusha and Lachin

A delegation of Finnish social and political figures, who came to Azerbaijan under the organization of the Finland-Azerbaijan Friendship Society visited Lachin and Shusha.

The delegation included Mikko Polvinen, the member of Finnish Parlament, Markku Kansgapuro, Director of the Center for Finnish, Russian and Eastern European Studies at the Alexander Institute, Antero Eerola,  journalist and Deputy Editor of "Hymy" magazine, former Chairman of the Parliamentary Group (2021), former member of the Vantaa-Kerava City Council (2022), and former member of the Vantaa-Kerava Regional Government, Jan Erik Enestam, former minister of Defense of Finland, Chairman of the board of “J-E Enestam AB" consulting company, Jaako Laakso, Former Deputy Head of the Finnish Delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Western European Union and Chairman of the Finland-Azerbaijan Friendship Society Tarana Nazarova.

During a visit, the representatives have become in the Special Representation of the President of the Azerbaijan Republic in Shusha district. They were informed about the history of Shusha, “Bullet-riddled Statues” monument, Jidir plain and Armenian vandalism against Azerbaijani historical monuments in Shusha, the work carried out by representation was emphasized.

Subsequentely, the guests visited the Jidir Plain and Shusha Castle. They get acquainted with restoration and reconstruction works  and higly appreciated the works carried out in Shusha. They condemned the acts of vandalism committed by Armenia against cultural monuments and mosques in the city of Shusha during the occupation.

Then, the Finnish delegation left for Lachin.

The guests were given detailed information about the conditions created for returning residents, jobs and their social security, and ongoing restoration and reconstruction work, future plans and projects, as well as villages of Sus and Zabukh  in the Special Representation of the President of the Azerbaijan Republic in Lachin.

The Finnish representative visited the one of the first 22 houses to be restored in Lachin, met with the families, lived there and  interviewed them. Homeowner expressed the joy of returning to their native land after 30 years, highlighted that every condition is set at a high level for the residents to live comfortably here. They expressed their gratitude to the Victorious Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev and brave Azerbaijani army. The guests left there with good impressions.

Subsequently, the representatives visited "Hakkari Fish Farm", villages of Sus and Zabukh. The local residents who welcomed the guests kindly and smilingly invited them to their homes. They got acquainted with the confortable conditions created by the state. The beauty of Azerbaijan's nature and the hospitality of the local residents made a good impression on the delegation.
