An event titled “Azerbaijan Meets Switzerland in Harmony of Movements – From the Caspian to the Alps, Bridge of Cultures” was held in Basel, Switzerland.
Fuad Muradov Chairman of the State Committee on Work with Diaspora participated at the event. In his remarks, Committee Chairman emphasized the multifaceted nature of the diaspora policy implemented by President Ilham Aliyev and underscored the invaluable contributions of First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva to the preservation of our national cultural heritage, its transmission to future generations, and its promotion worldwide. He highlighted that Azerbaijan, located at the crossroads of East and West, harmoniously synthesizes these two great cultures and has become a model of multiculturalism and tolerance.
The event noted that the cultural programs initiated by our compatriots residing in Switzerland and across Europe have made significant contributions to shaping an objective understanding of Azerbaijan and further strengthening our country’s cultural diplomacy. It was emphasized that, in this regard, the inclusion of a vast geography—from the Caspian Sea to the Alps —in the title of the event was not chosen by accident. It was also noted that the November 8 – Victory Day holds a special place in Azerbaijan’s history, as our glorious Victory has been inscribed in golden letters and stands as a shining embodiment of our nation’s unity, resolve, and heroism, serving as an example for future generations.
Fuad Isgandarov Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Swiss Confederation and the Principality of Liechtenstein, stated that this cultural bridge between Azerbaijan and Switzerland not only promotes art, but also demonstrates the power of mutual respect, understanding and friendship between our peoples.
Arzu Aliyeva Bodmer, Head of the “Friends of Azerbaijan” Association, spoke about the projects implemented in Switzerland to promote Azerbaijani culture and strengthen mutual understanding and friendship between peoples. She stated that the cultural bridge stretching from the Caspian Sea to the Alps is based on shared values that unite our peoples.
As part of the event, an exhibition by photographer Andre Jabali, showcasing the history, cultural heritage, and natural beauty of Azerbaijan, was presented. The participants admired the exhibition, as well as the colorful beauties of our country.
The event continued with an artistic program. Performances by the “Ritm” dance ensemble from Azerbaijan, a vocalist Orkhan Jalilov living in Austria, composer and pianist Vasif Huseyn, enchanted the audience with captivating Azerbaijani national dances and music.
It should be noted that the event was organized by the “Friends of Azerbaijan” Association and the “Buta” Dance Ensemble, which has been operating under the association for five years, with the support of the State Committee on Work with Diaspora of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Fund for Support to Azerbaijani Diaspora under the Committee.
