A concert of Azerbaijani pianist Vurgun Vakilov, laureate of international competitions, was held in the famous "Salle Cortot" concert hall of the Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris (ENMP) located in the French capital.
The talented pianist performed the works of outstanding Azerbaijani and Russian composers Gara Garayev and Modest Mussorgsky.
23-year-old Vurgun Vakilov, born in Baku, is a graduate of the Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris. He studied in the class of professor Rena Shereshevskaya-Mustafabeyli, owner of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres. The name of Vurgun Vakilov, a presidential scholarship owner, has been included in the "Golden book" of Young Talents of Azerbaijan in 2009.
Talanted pianist is a great grandson of outstanding poet Samad Vurgun.
It should be noted that the Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris was founded as a private institution on October 6, 1919 by the French pianist Alfred Cortot and the director of the music magazine "Le Monde" Auguste Mangeot. The school's 500-seat concert hall was built in 1929. This hall was named "Salle Cortot" in honor of the founder of the school. Today, it hosts more than 160 concerts and musical events every year.
