Chairman of the State Committee on Work with Diaspora Fuad Muradov met with the honorary member of the Azerbaijan-Finland Friendship Society, writer and translator, Tahira Jafarova.

Committee chairman warmly welcomed the guest, and highly appreciated the activity of our compatriot residing in Finland in the field of the promotion of the truths about Azerbaijan, and recognition of our rich cultural heritage and literature.

The medal of the Republic of Azerbaijan " For Service to the Diaspora" was presented to Tahira Jafarova.

She expressed her deep gratitude to the Azerbaijani government for the high appreciation of her activity.

It should be noted that Tahira Jafarova, Honored Art Worker of Azerbaijan, has had a rich and meaningful life journey, having been engaged in pedagogical, scientific, and literary activities for many years. She has worked at the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences and taught at the University of Tampere in Finland.

Our compatriot, a member of the European Literary Translators Association as well as the Writers' Unions of Finland and Azerbaijan, worked as a translator for the Foreign Commission of the USSR Writers' Union between 1981 and 1985. She has achieved great success both in Azerbaijan and abroad as a translator of English and Finnish literature.

Tahira Jafarova, who conducts scientific research at the National Archives of Finland, is also the author of studies about Azerbaijanis living in the country. Her articles and translations have been published in both local and international journals and prestigious media outlets.

Tahira Jafarova translated the book 'An Open Window' by Leyla Aliyeva, Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, into Finnish with great professionalism. The book received significant interest from readers.

She has rendered invaluable services in the field of diaspora activities, the promotion of Azerbaijani culture, and raising awareness about Azerbaijan within Finnish society.

In 2019, Tahira Jafarova was awarded the Jubilee Medal “100th Anniversary of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic (1918–2018)".
