Washington hosts meeting of Azerbaijani community in the US

The Chairman of the State Committee on work with Diaspora has met with Azerbaijani diaspora activitists living in USA.

The event began with the National Anthems of Azerbaijan and and the United States and continued with one minute silence, as a mark of respect to the dear memory of martyrs, who died for the territorial integrity of our country.

Fuad Muradov gave information about the large-scale projects carried out by the Committee in recent years and highlighted the tasks set by President Ilham Aliyev at the 5th Congress of World Azerbaijanis. He emphasized that Azerbaijanis worldwide, including our community in USA, showed loyalty to the ideology of Azerbaijaniism, actively participated in the information warfare, and increased the influence of the diaspora owing to their effective activities. 

The meeting participants - Togrul Aliyev, charge d'affaires of the Embassy of Azerbaijan in the United States, Munavvar Vahabova, chairman of the Alliance of American Azerbaijani Organizations, Shapoor Ansari, a well-known doctor living in the United States delivered speeches at the event. The activity of Azerbaijani diaspora and the 5th Summer Camp of Diaspora Youth held in Lachin from August 1 to 7 that received with great sympathy by the Azerbaijanis around the world were also noted in the speeches of participants.

The meeting participants have exchanged ideas and discussed future prospects. Various videos showcasing the work done by the Committee and the diaspora have been also shown.

At the end of the meeting, several community members were presented with medals. The “100th Anniversary of Heydar Aliyev (1923-2023)” jubilee medal has been awarded to Parvin Muradova, Chair of Education and Culture Committee at Azerbaijani-American Cultural Association of Florida, a member of the US Musicians Guild, professor of piano at the University of Florida. The “Service in Diaspora” medals were awarded to Samir Novruzov, head of the USA-Azerbaijan Integration Center (USACI), Rena Abbasova, an active member of the Azerbaijani community in the US and co-founder of the United States Azerbaijani Network (USAN), and diaspora activist Badir Mammadli.

The awarded community members expressed their gratitude to the President of the Azerbaijan Republic, Ilham Aliyev, and emphasized their commitment to continuing their efforts to convey the true voice of Azerbaijan to the world community, protect national interests, and strengthen diaspora activities.
