Our compatriot, kickboxer Alim Nabiyev, nicknamed “professor,” defeated his Brazilian opponent Jaime Souza in the competition held in Batumi as part of the "Georgian Fighting Championship" and "Grand Bellagio Championship" tournament. This victory marked his third consecutive win in his MMA career.

In his statement, the athlete stated that he is currently receiving offers from several international fighting organizations. However, he emphasized that his main goal is to compete in the world’s most prestigious fighting league, the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). He dedicated his victory achieved in Batumi to the friendship between peoples of Azerbaijan and Georgia. He noted that the crowd’s support he felt during the fight provided him with extra motivation. He expressed his gratitude to the well-known athletes and trainers from Azerbaijan who travelled to Batumi to support him, along with representatives of Azerbaijan’s embassy in Georgia, the Batumi consulate, and local community members.

It should be noted that seven-time world and three-time European kickboxing champion Alim Nabiyev successfully represents both Azerbaijan and Georgia in international arena. He is a former lightweight world champion, having won the title in tournaments organized by the World Muay Thai Council.
