The Azerbaijani community living in Germany expressed dissatisfaction with the one-sided and biased coverage in some German media of local anti-terrorist measures in the Karabakh economic region of our country.

Nuran Abdullayev, Chairman of the German-Azerbaijani Radiological and Neuroradiological Society, Director of the Rhine-Sieg Region Clinic, Doctor of Medical Sciences, addressed the German Foreign Minister Annalene Bärbock and the German Foreign Minister Andreas Michaelis about the unacceptable situation, incompatible with the journalistic code.

The appeal said that the role of the media, disseminating honest and balanced news based on facts and accurate research, in shaping public opinion, promoting dialogue, and developing freedom of speech and democracy is undeniable. However, in some cases, the publication of fabricated and biased information in the German press, especially the publication of one-sided reports on sensitive topics such as local anti-terrorist measures of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces in the Karabakh economic region may create false and unfounded opinions and negatively affect relations between Azerbaijan and Germany. It was emphasized that the Azerbaijani community, integrated into the civil society of Germany, as well as public associations such as the German-Azerbaijani Radiological and Neuroradiological Society, which unites well-known individuals with influence in their ranks, are not interested in creating such negative cases: “We very much regret the one-sided and untruthful opinions in the German media.”

Drawing attention to the reasons for local anti-terrorism measures carried out in the Karabakh economic region of Azerbaijan, the chairman of the society noted the need for the German press to prepare balanced and comprehensively researched materials, as well as to restore the trust of readers and viewers in the media.

The chairman of the society called on the leadership of the German Foreign Ministry to put strong pressure on Armenia and take decisive steps to restore lasting peace and stability in the South Caucasus region, to reveal the position of the government institution headed by him in accordance with international law for the sake of covering the truth in the German press: “The only way to establish peace and stability in the region is the unconditional and complete withdrawal of armed forces of Armenia from the Karabakh region of Azerbaijan as well as the respect for the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan and the abolition of the separatist regime”.
