The Committee Chairman met with the mayor of Kuala Lumpur
14 October, 2024Fuad Muradov, the Chairman of the State Committee on Work with Diaspora, met with Maimunah Mohd Sharif, the mayor of Kuala Lumpur.
Greeting sincerely the guest, Maimunah Mohd Sharif stated that she visited Baku several times and was fascinated by the hospitality of our people. She expressed her gratitude for inviting of Malaysian officials to the 29th session of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP 29) to be held in Baku. She emphasized that they have studied Baku’s experience in preserving the old part of the city, like Icherisheher, and intend to apply it in Kuala Lumpur as the Old City.
In outlining the committee’s activities, established by National Leader Heydar Aliyev, Fuad Muradov noted that, following the recommendations of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, efforts are underway to integrate compatriots into local communities. He reported on the work conducted by Azerbaijani communities abroad and initiatives aimed at preserving their national identity, as well as educational experiences for Azerbaijani students in Malaysia. He expressed his views on the exchange of experience within the framework of international projects.
At the meeting, ideas were exchanged on the development of cooperation on issues of mutual interest.
