A commemorative event titled “Khojaly in Poems and Memories” in Eskişehir

A commemorative event titled “Khojaly in Poems and Memories” was held, jointly organized by the Eskişehir Azerbaijanis Association and the Federation of Turkish-Azerbaijani Associations (FTAA).
The event, organized on the occasion of the 34th anniversary of the Khojaly genocide, began with the playing of the national anthems of both countries and a moment of silence in remembrance of the Khojaly martyrs and martyrs of the Turkic world.
Then video featured on Khojaly genocide was showcased.
In his introductory speech, First Deputy Chairman of the State Committee on Work with Diaspora Valeh Hajiyev stated that conveying of Khojaly truth in the international community, the honouring the memory of the genocide victims and the transmission of historical memory to future generations are the one of the main activities of the diaspora policy. First Deputy Chairman also spoke about work carried out by the Committee and noted that the committee, together with Azerbaijani communities living abroad, implements various commemorative events, scientific-practical conferences, exhibitions, as well as video and multimedia projects, and also organizes trainings to educate young people.
Deputy chairman of the Eskişehir Azerbaijanis Association Siraj Yaguboglu described the Khojaly genocide as vandalism not only against Azerbaijanis, but also the Turkic world. He emphasized that all events serve to promote justice and historical truths of the Khojaly genocide to the international community.
After speeches, Azerbaijani students studied in Eskişehir, recited poems dedicated to the Khojaly genocide.
In his closing remarks, the association’s chairman Javid Aydin highlighted the significance of conveying the memory of the tragedy to future generations and drew attention to the importance of perpetually honouring the martyrs’ memory.
