Composer Khadija Zeynalova participates in international project

Khadija Zeynalova, an Azerbaijani composer, musicologist, Ph.D. in art history, successfully represented her country in an international composition project titled “Female composers in piano education” (Komponistinnen im Klavierunterricht).

Under the leadership of well-known Cuban pianist Yami Cruz Montero and German musicologist Dr. Ulrike Keil, a project brought together 53 women composers from 22 countries — Azerbaijan, Argentina, Austria, Germany, Brazil, Cuba, Ecuador, the United Kingdom, France, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Norway, Poland, Russia, Spain, Switzerland, the United States, the Czech Republic, Croatia, Uruguay, and Venezuela.

She was the only Azerbaijani composer to participate in the project, contributing her Prelude No. 6 for solo piano

As a part of the project, the works performed by renowned pianists were recorded at the sound studio of Germany's well-known public radio station, “Bayerischer Rundfunk”. Based on these works, anthology books and compact discs (CDs) were released in 2025 by the prestigious music label “Naxos Records” and the music publishing house ‘Universal Edition”.

It should be noted that Khadija Zeynalova is a graduate of the Baku Music Academy, as well as the Detmold University of Music and Paderborn University. As the founder and artistic director of the international “Bridge of Sound” orchestra and the “Harmony of Sound” international music festival in Germany, she successfully promotes Azerbaijan’s rich musical heritage abroad. In 2024, she became the first Azerbaijani composer to receive the “Composer of the Year” award and to be recognized in the “Artist in Residence” category in Germany.
