Azerbaijani community met with the members of the Dutch Parliament

A statement on the Khojaly genocide was presented at a meeting organized in the Dutch Parliament by the “Ana Vətən” (Motherland) European Azerbaijani Women’s Union.
Meeting was attended by Mayisa Aghamirzayeva, head of the “Ana Vətən” European Azerbaijani Women’s Union, Jafar Gundogdu, Aykhan Sadikhov from Khojaly, Henry van Rens, Gulnara Aliyeva, members of parliament Stephan van Baarle, Jesse Klaver, Martin Oostenbrink, Isa Kahraman, and Erik van der Burg.
First of all, compatriots informed in detail about Khojaly genocide.
In his speech, Aykhan Sadikhov spoke about the victims of the genocide, as well as the Khojaly residents who were captured, went missing, and whose fate is still unknown. He drew attention that the mine-infested areas in Khojaly continue to pose a serious threat, and Armenia has refused to provide maps of these mined territories.
He also emphasized that the pressure exerted on our country to release Armenian separatists who were accused in crimes committed in Karabakh since 1987 is unjustified.
It was brought to the attention of MPs that Azerbaijan is on the side of peace, tranquility and prosperity.
Mayisa Aghamirzayeva spoke about severe torture that Durdana Aghayeva endured in Armenian captivity, and presented Durdana Aghayeva’s interview, published in “For you” jurnal in the Netherlands, as well as the book about her life to the members of the Dutch parliament.
Besides, during the meeting, the books titled "They will never grow up" (Ze werden nooit volwassen) and “There is One from Khojaly” (Geesten van Khojalı), written by Sariyya Muslimgizi, were also presented to the parliamentarians. Henry van Rens, translator of the book, expressed his anxiety about the fact that many countries, including the Kingdom of the Netherlands have not yet recognized the Khojaly genocide. He stated that he regrets the biased stance against Azerbaijan.
Dutch MPs stated that they were deeply moved by what they heard and emphasized the importance of discussing this issue in a broader context.
At the end of the meeting, Khojaly Genocide memorial located in the Hague, was visited, the memory of our heroic martyrs was commemorated.
