Azerbaijanis residing in the Canadian cities of Ottawa and Toronto continue their efforts to promote the rich cultural heritage, history, and national values of Azerbaijan. To this end, they organize various events and participate in international festivals, which play a significant role in raising global awareness about our country.
One such event took place in Canada’s capital, Ottawa. Organized by the Azerbaijani Students Association, the event was titled "Azərbaycan Mədəniyyət Gecəsi - Azerbaijani Cultural Gala" - the evening aimed to introduce Azerbaijan’s rich culture, history, and national values to Azerbaijani youth living in Canada, members of the diaspora, as well as the local community. Students from "Karabakh" Azerbaijani language school shared information about the country and recited poems, while students from the "My Azerbaijan" weekend school performed traditional dances. The event also featured presentations dedicated to Azerbaijan’s history. Decorative corners, national symbols, and examples of traditional craftsmanship set up throughout the venue offered attendees a chance to explore the country’s rich cultural and historical heritage.
In Toronto, students of the "My Azerbaijan" weekend school, operating under the Canadian Azerbaijani House, participated in the Multicultural Children’s Festival, organized by the Canadian Turkish Cultural and Folklore Society. Under the direction of dance instructor Orkhan Islamov, the young participants presented Azerbaijani national dance performances. Particularly, a performance, set to the song "Ey Əziz anam, Azərbaycan" ("Oh My Dear Mother, Azerbaijan") in English attracted great attention and was warmly applauded by the audience.
