An event was held on the occasion of the 21st anniversary of the establishment of the State Committee on Work with Diaspora and the 5th anniversary of the establishment of the Fund for Support to Azerbaijani Diaspora.

First of all, the event participants laid flowers at Heydar Aliyev’s bust installed inside the building of the Committee.

After singing the National Anthem of Azerbaijan, the event participants commemorated with a minute's silence the dear memory of martyrs, who died for the independence and territorial integrity of our Motherland.

After greeting the event participants, Committee Chairman Fuad Muradov congratulated all Azerbaijanis who contribute to the diaspora movement. The chairman recalled that the Committee was established on the basis of the
State Committee on the Affairs of Azerbaijanis living abroad.

It was told that Heydar Aliyev’s political course is being continued successfully and Committee operates in accordance with the recommendation of the President Ilham Aliyev sounded at the Fifth Congress of the World Azerbaijanis.

Committee chairman has told that various projects are being carried out in the direction of preservation of national cultural heritage of our country, organization of the Azerbaijanis living abroad, and delivery of the Azerbaijani truths to the world community with the support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and at the initiative of the First Vice President of Azerbaijan Mehriban Aliyeva.

A video dedicated to the establishment of the Committee, its activity, Heydar Aliyev's quotes about Azerbaijani diaspora was demonstrated at the event.

Following the report made by Ekram Abdullayev, executive director of the Fund for Support to Azerbaijan Diaspora, a video reflecting 5-year activity of the Fund was presented.

Diaspora representatives Saadat Abdullayeva (Georgia), Aladdin Mammadov (Russia), Ajdar Taghizadeh (Sweden), Teymur Rzayev (Turkey), Maya Bagirova (France), Jeyhun Najafov (Canada), Kamilla Mammadova and Zamina Mirhadiyeva (USA) made speeches. They highly appreciated the activity carried out in the direction of conveying the truths of Azerbaijan to the world community and promoting the rich cultural heritage of our country.

Jeffrey Werbock, Chairman of the Board of the Mugham Society of America, spoke about his love for Azerbaijan and the beauty of Azerbaijani music. A musician played a piece of mugham on kamancha and completed his speech with the expression "Karabakh is Azerbaijan!".
