Diaspora Committee Meets with Azerbaijani IT Specialists in Silicon Valley
20 May, 2026Staff members of the State Committee on Work with Diaspora of the Republic of Azerbaijan met with Azerbaijani information technology specialists working in Silicon Valley, California, U.S. The main aim of the meeting was to strengthen ties with highly qualified compatriots living abroad, discuss opportunities for cooperation in the field of information technology, and bring together the intellectual potential of the Azerbaijani diaspora.
First, our fellow compatriot Aynur Aghayeva, who works at Google, provided detailed information to the staff members of the Committee about the company’s operating principles, innovative working methods, and technological capabilities. Next, Amy Khagan, an employee of Intuitive Surgical, one of the world’s leading companies in the field of medical robotics, informed the Committee staff about the company’s innovative surgical technologies and robotic systems.
Later, a meeting was held with Azerbaijani information technology specialists. Elshad Aliyev, Deputy Chairman of the State Committee on Work with Diaspora, stated that our highly qualified compatriots working in Silicon Valley are an invaluable resource for Azerbaijan’s development and progress in the field of innovation. He noted that collaboration built on their knowledge and experience would drive new technological projects and boost the collective potential of our diaspora.
Vugar Gurbanov, Azerbaijan’s Consul General in Los Angeles, drew attention to the importance of effectively leveraging our compatriots’ professional expertise. He went on to stress the significance of cooperation and networking opportunities among Azerbaijanis living abroad.
Nurlan Shukurlu, Head of the Northern California Azerbaijani Cultural Centre, highlighted ongoing efforts to build connections and foster networking among Azerbaijani IT professionals working in Silicon Valley.
The meeting also included discussions on organizing the U.S.–Azerbaijan Information Technology Specialists Forum with the participation of Azerbaijani IT specialists operating in the United States. The participants exchanged views on the forum’s operating mechanisms, goals, and future areas of cooperation. At the conclusion of the discussions, it was decided to establish an initial working group to oversee the organization of the forum.
