Azerbaijani Music Performed at Lucerna Palace

A concert dedicated to May 28 – Independence Day of the Republic of Azerbaijan was held at Lucerna Palace (Palác Lucerna), based in the centre of Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic.

The concert was co-organized by the Coordination Council of Azerbaijanis Living in Eastern Europe for the Czech Republic and the “Land of Fire” Society, with the support of the Fund for Support to Azerbaijani Diaspora under the State Committee on Work with Diaspora of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

The event was attended by Akram Abdullayev, Executive Director of the Fund for Support to Azerbaijani Diaspora, representatives of the Committee and the Fund, representatives from the embassies of Azerbaijan, Türkiye, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Spain, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Italy to the Czech Republic, as well as public and cultural figures and members of communities that remain friendly towards Azerbaijan.

Musical performances by People’s Artists - Faig Sujaddinov and Alikhan Samadov, Honoured Artists - Shola Safaraliyeva, Kamran Karimov, and Elnur Mikayilov, the “Simurgh” Mugham Ensemble, and renowned mugham performer Miralam Miralamov left an unforgettable impression. Their performances reflected Azerbaijan’s rich national musical legacy, the subtleties of the art of mugham, and the country’s cultural values.

The musical pieces performed by our compatriot Janel Najafli, a violinist living in the Czech Republic who was named “Person of the Year” in 2020, delighted the audience. Guests expressed admiration for both the richness of Azerbaijani culture and the unique beauty of the art of mugham. The concert became a memorable cultural celebration that will remain in the minds of participants for a long time.

At the conclusion of the concert, guests expressed their gratitude to the organizers for the high level of organization, the rich musical program, and the warm atmosphere created throughout the event. They emphasized the special importance of such events in strengthening friendship, mutual understanding, and solidarity among peoples.
