Azerbaijani House was opened in Prague
7 November, 2024Azerbaijani House was opened in Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic. Our compatriots living in this country, as well representatives of local community and diplomatic corps attended at the event.
The event began with the National Anthems of Azerbaijan and the Czech Republic and continued with a minute’s silence, as a mark of respect to the dear memory of martyrs, who died for the territorial integrity of our country.
Leyla Begim, coordinator of the Coordinating Council of Eastern European Azerbaijanis, the head of “Natavan” Society and Azerbaijani House gave information about the activities of the Society, as well Azerbaijani Community in Czech.
The Chairman of the State Committee on Work with Diaspora congratulated Azerbaijanis on the occasion of the opening of the Azerbaijani House in Czech. Fuad Muradov stated: “Azerbaijani Houses were opened in 17 countries around the world. Opening of these houses are assessed this fact as an obvious indicator of the country and President Ilham Aliyev’s growing attention towards Azerbaijanis living abroad. I believe that Azerbaijanis living here will achieve even greater success through the Azerbaijani House in Prague”.
Azerbaijan’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Czech Republic, Adish Mammadov, described the opening of the Azerbaijani House as a significant event, underscored that Azerbaijanis living there have great potential to promote Azerbaijan.
Farid Amiraliyev, the head of “Land of Fire”, coordinator of the Coordinating Council of Eastern European Azerbaijanis, described the crowd at the opening of the Azerbaijani House as a symbol of unity among our compatriots.
Milan Ekert, the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, the former Czech ambassador to Azerbaijan, stated: “The Azerbaijani House opened in Prague will be our home as well, along with Azerbaijanis, and I believe that the doors of this house will be open to everyone.” Milan Ekert also congratulated the Azerbaijani people on the occasion of the November 8 - Victory Day. Kazakhstan's ambassador to the Czech Republic, Bakyt Dyussenbayev, remarked that the opening of the Azerbaijani House is a significant event for the development of relations between the two countries, as well as for representatives of Turkic communities living here.
It should be noted that a weekend school also operates at the Azerbaijani House. Lamiya Akhundova, a resident of Prague, expressed her joy about the school's opening, saying, “The weekend school is a great opportunity for my children to learn their mother tongue. We are grateful to the Azerbaijani state for providing this opportunity.”
Speakers expressed their immense joy over the opening of the Azerbaijani House in Prague, describing it as the most valuable gift from the Azerbaijani state to Azerbaijanis in the Czech Republic.
A cultural program was also organized as part of the Azerbaijani House opening.
