National Leader Heydar Aliyev was commemorated in Thessaloniki

An event was held on the occasion of the Memorial Day of Heydar Aliyev, the founder of the modern Azerbaijan state, in Thessaloniki, Greece.

The event was supported by the State Committee on Work with Diaspora and the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Greece and organized by the Greece-Azerbaijan Friendship Society "GALA". The ambassador of Azerbaijan in Greece, employees of the consulates of Turkey and Georgia in Thessaloniki, members of local NGOs and representatives of the public participated in the event.

Greeting the guests, the Rashid Mammadov, the head of the Greece-Azerbaijan Friendship Society "GALA”, gave information about the historical and unparalleled services of National Leader Heydar Aliyev, the founder of the modern Azerbaijan state. He highlighted that the memory of the National Leader was commemorated respectably in Greece.

Arif Mammadov, the ambassador of Azerbaijan in Greece spoke about Heydar Aliyev’s meaningful life path, multifaceted legacy, the irreplaceable and exceptional role in achieving, protecting and strengthening the independence of the modern Azerbaijan state. He emphasized the political course of Heydar Aliyev was successfully continued by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.

Subsequently, the participants visited a photo exhibition dedicated to the National Leader’s life path and activities.
