A concert titled “I Had a Dream,” dedicated to May 28 – Independence Day of Azerbaijan, was held in Berlin, the capital of Germany. The concert was supported by the State Committee on Work with Diaspora and the Berlin Senate Department for Culture and Social Cohesion.
The concert program included the symphonic mugham “Shur” by the prominent Azerbaijani composer Fikrat Amirov, the composition “Seven Tears” by the Renaissance-era English composer John Dowland, and selected works from the poetry of the great Azerbaijani poet Mahammad Fuzuli.
The concert’s central theme was the portrayal of love in the works of Mahammad Fuzuli and John Dowland as both the meaning of life and a source of suffering. A parallel between the philosophical approach in Fuzuli’s “Leyli and Majnun” and Dowland’s music, which reflects his personal crisis and emotions, was presented with great professionalism.
The concert, featuring a fusion of Western and Eastern musical traditions by the ensembles “Anima Shirvani” and “Oltremontano Antwerpen,” led by Tural Ismayilov, an Azerbaijani musician based in Germany and organizer of the “I Had a Dream” project, left an unforgettable impression on the audience.
