The meeting of the Coordination Council of Scandinavian Azerbaijanis was held

A meeting with the Azerbaijani community residing in Scandinavian countries, and the gathering of the Coordination Council of Scandinavian Azerbaijanis (CCSA) were held in Stockholm, the capital of the Kingdom of Sweden.

Meeting began with the playing of the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan and followed by commemorating in memory of the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of our country.

Irada Aliyeva Söderberg, coordinator for Sweden of the Coordination Council of Scandinavian Azerbaijanis, Ramil Aliyev, the Coordinator for Norway of the CCSA, founder of the Norwegian Azerbaijani Youth Organization (NAYO) and head of the Azerbaijan House in Oslo, Mehriban Aliyeva-Sadighi, Chairman of the Denmark-Azerbaijan "Vatan" Society, Mona Savojifar, and other active members of community delivered speeches. Speeches provided in depth about the activities of the Azerbaijani community in these countries.

"During the meeting with the Azerbaijani community, Elshad Aliyev, Deputy Chairman of the State Committee on Work with Diaspora, stated that “Under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, diaspora policy has been enriched with new criteria, making significant contributions to the development of Azerbaijani communities abroad and enhancing the potential of our diaspora to become a “soft power.” The Deputy Chairman spoke about the main directions of the Committee’s activities and emphasized that our compatriots successfully represent our country abroad."

Asgar Naghiyev, First Secretary of the Azerbaijani Embassy to Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Denmark, emphasized that this meeting is the great opportunity for discussion the activities of Azerbaijani communities in Scandinavian countries and determination of future perspectives. The meeting continued with the answering the questions of the community members.

Afterwards, Aida Amir Hashemi the member of the “Karabagh” Society in Sweden, was elected as the Stockholm coordinator while Ulviyya Najafova, the head of the "Karabakh Freedom Center" operating in Sweden, was elected as the coordinator for Gothenburg, of the Swedish Azerbaijani Coordination Council

At the end, Sevinj Nematova member of the Board of the Swedish Azerbaijani Coordination Council, Ulviyya Najafova, the head of the "Karabakh Freedom Center", and Alirza Qazvinizadeh, editor-in-chief of “Tribun” magazine and head of the “Azerbaijan Tribune” website, was awarded the “For Service in Diaspora Activity” medal of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
