The event dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the Azerbaijani Society in Barcelona was held.

The event was attended by Fuad Muradov, the chairman of the State Committee on Work with Diaspora, Afgan Khalili, Consul of the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Spain, members of Azerbaijani community in this country, representatives of the diasporas of Türkiye and other Turkic-speaking peoples, as well as local society and media.

Firstly, release of the program of "Homeland is not far away" dedicated to the Azerbaijani House in Barcelona and the Azerbaijani Society in Barcelona was screened.

Karim Karimov, the coordinator of the Coordination Council of Azerbaijanis in Spain for Barcelona, chairperson of the Azerbaijani Society in Barcelona and Azerbaijani House in Barcelona, expressed his gratitude to the state of Azerbaijan for its attention and care for our compatriots, diaspora organizations, as well as the activity of the society.  He thanked the event participants.

In his speech, the committee chairman stated that the President Ilham Aliyev has successfully continued this policy, which was founded by the National Leader Heydar Aliyev. He emphasized the state of Azerbaijan pays special attention to the Azerbaijanis living abroad. Committee chairman highly appreciated the contribution of the Azerbaijani communities abroad, diaspora organizations, and the Azerbaijani Society in Barcelona to diaspora’s activities. He expressed satisfaction with the expansion and strengthening of the Azerbaijani community in Spain recently.

It was emphasized that Azerbaijani Houses, weekend schools, Karabagh Azerbaijani schools established abroad by the initiative of First Vice-President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mehriban Aliyeva, play an invaluable role in the organization of our diaspora and in strengthening of the ties of the new generation of Azerbaijanis with our country.

Subsequently, concert program moderated by Gulnar Hajiyeva, member of the Azerbaijani Society in Barcelona was presented. The program included Azerbaijani, Turkish, and Spanish music and dances. The performance of the teachers and students of the dance club operating under the Azerbaijani House in Barcelona was met with thunderous applause from the audience.

Gifts were presented to the participants of the artistic part on behalf of the committee.
