Meeting with Azerbaijani community living in Portugal was held in Lisbon, Portugal.

Meeting started with the playing of the National Anthem of Azerbaijan, and followed by the commemorating of the dear memory of martyrs, who lost their lives for territorial integrity of our homeland.

Greeting compatriots living in Portugal, Leyla Hamzayeva, head of the European countries department, and Ali Aliyev, deputy head of the department, informed in detail about the committee’s activity, emphasized the importance of this meeting, organized for the first time in Portugal, touched upon the importance of organization of Azerbaijanis, and their unity around a common idea.

At the meeting, video was presented showcasing the committee’s activity, Azerbaijani Houses abroad, Coordination Councils, weekend schools, implemented large-scale projects.

Mikayil Ramazanli, Embassy counselor of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Holy See and Portugal spoke about community’s activity, stated that the development of Azerbaijani diaspora has made positive contribution to the establishment of friendly relations between two countries. He emphasized the role of our compatriots abroad in the recognition of our country and conveying the its voice of justice to the global community.

Milana Seyidzadeh, the Coordinator of the Coordination Council of Azerbaijanis in Spain for Portugal, gave broad information about the activity of the Coordination Council of Azerbaijanis, emphasized the importance of strengthening the ties of our compatriots with Azerbaijan.

Azerbaijanis thanked the committee for its support in bringing together the Azerbaijani community in Portugal for the first time. They highly appreciated this meeting, and the exchange of ideas in various fields, expressed their commitment to continuing to contribute to the diaspora policy.

The meeting has come to end with an exchange of ideas, discussion of perspectives, and responses to inquiries.
