Representatives of the diaspora organizations of OTS member countries’ state institutions came together in Vienna
15 January, 2026A meeting was held with representatives of the state institutions responsible for diaspora affairs of the member countries of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) in Vienna, the capital of Austria. The event was organized by the State Committee on Work with Diaspora of the Republic of Azerbaijan with the support of the Organization of Turkic States, in partnership with the Embassy of Azerbaijan to Austria and the Azerbaijan Cultural Centre.
The event which took place at the Azerbaijan Cultural Centre, was attended by Kubanychbek Omuraliev, Secretary-General of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), Rovshan Sadiqbeyli, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Azerbaijan to Austria, Gursel Donmez, Ambassador of Türkiye to Austria, Levent Eler, Permanent Representative of Türkiye to the United Nations Office, Nurjan Shaildabekova, Permanent Representative of Kyrgyzstan to the United Nations Office, representatives of the State Committee on Work with Diaspora and the state institutions responsible for diaspora affairs of the member countries of the Organization of Turkic States.
In his speech, Kubanychbek Omuraliev, OTS Secretary-General emphasized the particular importance of deepening ties among the diaspora organizations of the OTS member states and ensuring more coordinated activities. He noted that the training programs on Diaspora Capacity Enhancement held within the framework of the event serve as an important platform for the exchange of knowledge and experience.
Ambassador Rovshan Sadigbeyli stated that such initiatives contribute to the Turkic diaspora to present a stronger and more unified stance on the international stage.
Responsible officials of the State Committee on Work with Diaspora of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Leyla Hamzayeva and Shafag Binnatova, provided detailed information on the large-scale projects implemented by the Committee and the objectives set for the future. They also spoke about the work carried out within the framework of cooperation with the member states of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS).
In their remarks, other speakers addressed issues related to the organization of Turkic communities living abroad and the involvement of youth in diaspora processes. They emphasized the necessity of strengthening institutional cooperation among the diaspora organizations of the OTS member countries.
The meeting continued with the exchange of views, sharing of experiences gained in the diaspora field, and discussions on future cooperation opportunities.
