Our compatriot was elected to a high position in Germany
31 July, 2026Huseyn Kamalzadeh, who lives in Germany, was officially elected as a member of the Advisory Board on Foreign Residents and Integration (AIB) following municipal elections in the German city of Erlangen. This position is considered one of the highest elected representative roles in municipal governance that can be attained by foreigners without German citizenship.
By surpassing candidates from India, Iran, Syria, China, Kazakhstan, Armenia, and Pakistan, he earned the trust of the electorate. One noteworthy aspect is that nearly three-quarters of the votes cast in his favour came from representatives of various nationalities. This outcome has been regarded as a reflection of our compatriot’s strong reputation among diverse communities, his commitment to mutual respect, and his successful cooperation across different groups.
I regard this trust as a great responsibility. During the upcoming six-year term, I will do my utmost to conscientiously represent the interests of all residents of our city, particularly migrants, students, and families, and to promote integration and equal opportunities. This means ensuring that the voices of Azerbaijanis living in Germany are heard more clearly, that our community is represented with dignity, and that new opportunities are created for future generations,” said Huseyn Kamalzadeh while sharing his thoughts on his newly elected position.
Huseyn Kamalzadeh’s achievement has been regarded not only as a personal success, but also as another significant indicator of the growing influence of the Azerbaijani community in Germany and the continued development of our diaspora. This year, he was also elected Vice Chair of the Doctoral Candidates’ Convention at the Faculty of Medicine of Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen–Nürnberg (FAU), where he is pursuing his doctoral studies.
It should be noted that Erlangen and its surrounding region are among Germany’s most important economic and scientific hubs. The area is home to globally renowned international companies such as Adidas, Puma, Schaeffler, and Siemens. In this regard, the representation of an Azerbaijani in the city’s administration carries particular significance both locally and internationally.
