Our compatriot in Lithuania participated in a discussion on intercultural dialogue and the integration of migrants

A broad discussion on intercultural dialogue and the integration of migrants into Lithuanian society was held on a program organized by Lithuanian National Radio on the occasion of June 20 - World Refugee Day.

The program was attended by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), representatives of the International Organization for Migration’s (IOM), as well as Narmin Aliyeva, coordinator for Lithuania of the Coordination Council of Azerbaijanis living in the Baltic States.

Narmin Aliyeva mentioned that she has been organizing cultural events that serve as a bridge between foreigners and the local community for over eight years. She said that the annually organized Novruz celebrations have become an important cultural festival not only for the Azerbaijani diaspora but also for Lithuanian society. She emphasized that Novruz traditions are met with great interest by the local population.

She also noted that interest in cultural diversity has increased among the Lithuanian public and that society has become more open and tolerant.
