State and government officials, representatives of the diplomatic corps and the local community, members of the Azerbaijani community and guests from Azerbaijan attended the event, held with the support of the State Committee on Work with Diaspora. The event was held under coordinatorship of Norway branch of Coordination Council of Scandinavian Azerbaijanis and the Azerbaijani House is Oslo.

In his opening remarks, Ramil Aliyev, coordinator of the Coordination Council of Scandinavian Azerbaijanis for Norway has drawn attention to the fact that various events dedicated to 28 May- Independence Day of Azerbaijan and 100th anniversary of the birth of Heydar Aliyev are being held in our country and abroad.

Speaking at the event, Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Kingdom of Sweden, Zaur Ahmadov, gave detailed information about the history of Azerbaijan's statehood and achievements gain in various fields.

Ambassador of Turkey to Norway Goolin Dinch congratulated our people on the occasion of Independence Day of Azerbaijan and Heydar Aliyev's 100^th anniversary of the birth. Mrs. Ambassador spoke about Heydar Aliyev's place in the history of our country and all over the Turkic world.

Then, Baba Vaziroglu, an honoured artist of Azerbaijan, read poems and a concert program was presented.
