Mir Jalal Pashayev commemorated in Stuttgart

A commemorative event dedicated to the 118th birth anniversary of the prominent writer, literary scholar, and educator Mir Jalal Pashayev was held at the Azerbaijan House in Stuttgart, Germany.
The event was attended by teachers and students of the Azerbaijani weekend school under the Azerbaijan House, diaspora activists, family members of First Karabakh War martyr Shahin Najafov, and representatives of the local community. Matthias Wolf, Advisor to the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports of the state of Baden-Württemberg as well as German and Italian intellectuals also participated in the event.
Gunay Mirzayeva, Head of the Azerbaijan House in Stuttgart and member of the Board of the Alliance of Azerbaijanis in Germany, spoke about the writer’s illustrious life and multifaceted legacy. Emphasizing Mir Jalal Pashayev’s exceptional contributions to the development of Azerbaijani literature and scholarly thought, Ms. Mirzayeva noted that his works vividly reflected the national and moral values of the Azerbaijani people, as well as their historical past.
Gunay Mirzayeva also shared memories of her grandmother, journalist Svetlana Mirzayeva, a recipient of the “Shohrat” Order about her teacher Mir Jalal Pashayev. She stated that Pashayev, who had educated generations of students, considered the preservation and mastery of the Azerbaijani language a moral duty for every Azerbaijani and instilled a strong sense of civic responsibility in his students. Both his literary and academic legacy serve as a moral guidebook that imparts essential life values to younger generations.
Aida Valiyeva, a Stuttgart-based 10th-grade student acting as a youth ambassador to the European Parliament, delivered an engaging presentation on Mir Jalal Pashayev’s legacy.
Matthias Wolf, Advisor to the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports of the federal state of Baden-Württemberg, expressed his satisfaction at participating in the event dedicated to the memory of the distinguished writer, educator, and scholar. He also shared his intention to translate some of the author’s works into the German language.
It should be noted that, there a network of 32 Azerbaijan Houses operating in 20 countries around the world. The Stuttgart Azerbaijan House, the latest member of this network, was opened this year.
