Meeting with the Azerbaijani community was held at the "Heydar Aliyev Education Center" in Kars
21 January, 2025During his official visit to Turkey, Fuad Muradov, Chairman of the State Committee on Work with Diaspora, visited the city of Kars. First, the monument of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev in Heydar Aliyev Park was visited, his memory was honored with great respect, and flowers were laid at the monument. Following this, the Committee Chairman met with Hüsnü Kapu, the rector of Kars Caucasian University. During the meeting, detailed information was provided about the university’s activities, as well as Azerbaijani professors working there and students studying at the institution. Gifts symbolizing Azerbaijan's history and culture were presented to the university.
Later, the Committee Chairman got acquainted with the activities of the "Heydar Aliyev Education Center" under Kars Caucasian University and met with Azerbaijani teachers of the university and members of the community.
The Consul General of Azerbaijan in Kars, Zamin Aliyev, also participated and had a speech at the meeting, describing this event as a reflection of the Azerbaijani state's high attention to its compatriots living abroad.
The university rector welcomed the guests, emphasized the development of cooperation between the two countries in various fields, and provided information about the center’s work.
The Committee Chairman spoke about the country’s diaspora policy and the importance of such meetings, highly appreciating the contributions of Azerbaijani scientists and educators to Turkish science and their invaluable role in raising the younger generation. He noted the committee’s potential contributions to the university in the fields of scientific exchange, student exchange, and book publishing. Additionally, books on Azerbaijan's history and culture were presented to the university library.
During the meeting, the contributions of the prominent statesman Heydar Aliyev to the successful development of Azerbaijani science were discussed. The high attention and care of the Azerbaijani state and President Ilham Aliyev for scientists living both in the country and abroad were once again emphasized.
The discussions also touched on the organization of forums for Azerbaijani scientists living abroad, the creation of common discussion platforms, the preservation of the mother tongue, the promotion of truths about Azerbaijan, and the achievements of Azerbaijani scientists in advancing global science.
At the end of the event, professor Hajalı Najafov, head of the Foreign Relations Department of Kars Caucasian University, director of the Caucasus and Central Asia Research Center, and chair of the Non-Organic Chemistry Department, was awarded the medal "For Services in Diaspora Activities” of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The professor expressed his gratitude to President Ilham Aliyev for this high honor and described this significant event as an obvious example of state attention to Azerbaijani science and scientists.
