Azerbaijanis in Europe Commemorate Martyrs with Boundless Gratitude

Azerbaijani diaspora organizations operating in European countries were issued statements regarding September 27 – Remembrance Day.

The statements, issued on behalf of the Azerbaijan House in Estonia, the "Birlik" Community, the "FC Karabakh Tallinn" team, the Azeri Youth Organization in Latvia, the Alliance of Azerbaijanis in Germany, the World Boxing Committee named after Heydar Aliyev in Magdeburg, the Society of Azerbaijanis in Austria, the European Azerbaijan Centre, and the Swedish-Azerbaijani Union (SAF), deeply honoured the memory of  military personnel and civilians who sacrificed their lives in defence of Azerbaijan's territorial integrity and sovereignty, while wishing good health to war veterans who lost their health on this path.

The statements remembered with profound gratitude the courage, selflessness, and loyalty to the Homeland of the brave heroes who were killed during the 44-day Patriotic War, which began on September 27, 2020, under the leadership of the Victorious Commander-in-Chief, President Ilham Aliyev. It was highlighted that the historic Victory, written at the cost of the martyrs' blood, not only restored justice but also serves as a chronicle of heroism for future generations. It was emphasized that the Patriotic War, culminating in a glorious Victory, has become a symbol of national dignity and pride for Azerbaijanis worldwide.

Furthermore, the statements stressed that war crimes resulting in loss of life and destruction must never be repeated anywhere in the world, while expressing wishes to all nations for a future built on sustainable peace, security, mutual respect, and compassion.

Along with the statements of diaspora organizations, various events were also held in connection with Remembrance Day. A corner dedicated to this historic day was set up at the Azerbaijan House operating in Magdeburg, Germany.

The corner showcased photographs depicting the liberation of our lands, the restoration of Azerbaijan's territorial integrity, and the raising of our tricolour national flag in the liberated territories. Candles were lit in tribute to the cherished memory of our martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of our Homeland.

It should be noted that these initiatives are of great importance in terms of keeping alive the history of Azerbaijan's righteous struggle and Victory, honouring the memory of our martyrs, and promoting these historical truths more widely among our compatriots living in Europe and the local public.
