Zurab Khonelidze presented with the “100th Anniversary of Heydar Aliyev (1923–2023)” Jubilee Medal

Chairman of the State Committee on Work with Diaspora, Fuad Muradov, met with diplomat, scholar, and Professor Zurab Khonelidze.
Welcoming the guest warmly, Chairman Muradov emphasized the importance of diaspora and academic cooperation in strengthening the friendship and strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and Georgia, as well as in advancing humanitarian and cultural ties. During the meeting, the sides exchanged views on issues of mutual interest and discussed opportunities for expanding cooperation.
Zurab Khonelidze expressed his gratitude for the warm reception and attention. He voiced confidence that the friendly relations, as well as scientific and humanitarian cooperation between Azerbaijan and Georgia, would continue to develop.
Following the meeting, the “100th Anniversary of Heydar Aliyev (1923–2023)” Jubilee Medal was presented to Zurab Khonelidze in accordance with the Order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev.
For information, Zurab Khonelidze has held a number of senior positions throughout his career, including at the Ministry of Public Education of Georgia (serving, among other roles, as Deputy Minister), the Supreme Council of Georgia, and as Rector of Sukhumi State University. A Doctor of Political Science and Professor, he was also the first elected Chairman of the Georgian Trade Unions in the history of independent Georgia. He is the author of more than 70 scholarly works and monographs. His monograph "University Diplomacy," regarded as a new approach in the field of international relations, has been translated into 12 languages worldwide.
