"Cultural Bridge: From Azerbaijan to America" event held in the US

An event titled "Cultural Bridge: From Azerbaijan to America" was held at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, organized by the Azerbaijani Student Association (AZSA).

The main goal of the event was to showcase Azerbaijan’s rich cultural heritage, traditions, and national values to a wide audience and to foster connections between different cultures.

More than 100 guests, including university faculty staff and members of the Azerbaijani community living in Wisconsin and Illinois, attended the event. Participants had the opportunity to experience Azerbaijani music, dances, and works of art, as well as to watch informative videos.

A special Azerbaijani corner displayed traditional clothing, handicrafts, souvenirs, and information about the country’s vibrant culture.

The event commenced with the playing of the national anthems of Azerbaijan and the United States.

In the opening speech, AZSA President Ibrahim Ahmadli emphasized the importance of promoting Azerbaijan in the state of Wisconsin and highlighted the activities undertaken by the student association in this regard.

Following this, the host of the event, AZSA representative Eltaj Sadigova, emphasized the significance of such initiatives in promoting the Azerbaijani spirit globally and expressed plans to organize similar projects in the future.

Zaur Salmanov, an official from the State Committee on Work with Diaspora, spoke about Azerbaijan’s tradition of tolerance and multiculturalism, the cultural bridge-building projects carried out by Azerbaijani diaspora organizations in the United States, and the committee’s efforts to support the organization and cultural promotion of Azerbaijanis living abroad.

Toghrul Aliyev, a representative of the Embassy of Azerbaijan in the United States, joined the event online and discussed how such initiatives contribute to the development of bilateral relations between the two countries.

Scenes from Uzeyir Hajibeyli’s operettas "Arshin Mal Alan" and " “If Not That One, Then This One” (“O olmasin, bu olsun") performed in English by AZSA members, were met with great interest and applause from the audience. Interactive games were also organized for participants.

It should be noted that such events, regularly organized or attended by diaspora organizations and activists, play a significant role in promoting the richness of Azerbaijani culture across the world.
