Muslim Magomayev remembered through poetry and music in Prague

A music and poetry evening titled “Sonnets Are Synonyms of Love”, dedicated to the memory of world-renowned singer and composer Muslim Magomayev, was held at the Lapidarium Gallery in Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic.

During the evening, a sonnet dedicated to the outstanding artist touched the audience. The poem was recited by Leyla Begim Jafarova, a renowned poet and head of the “Natavan” Society in the Czech Republic and the Azerbaijan Cultural Centre in Prague. The same work was also presented at events held in Düsseldorf and Baku on the occasion of Muslim Magomayev’s 75th anniversary.

The musical programme was accompanied by violinist Alexander Schonert, laureate of the International Antonín Dvořák and European Gustav Mahler awards. His performance of the famous piece “Melody” on the violin was among the most memorable moments of the evening. Natalia Schonert’s piano performances further enriched the programme.

The event also featured renowned journalist and writer Boris Goldberg, as well as actress and poet Natalia Volkova, who presented excerpts from their sonnets.

The evening, which brought poetry and classical music together, served as a tribute to the cherished memory of Muslim Magomayev.
