Chisinau Hosted a Concert Dedicated to the Memory of Muslim Magomayev

A concert titled “Love and the Sea" dedicated to the memory of Azerbaijan’s world-renowned singer and composer Muslim Magomayev, was held at the National Opera and Ballet Theatre “Maria Bieșu” in Chisinau, the capital of Moldova.
The concert organized by the Congress of Azerbaijanis in Moldova, gathered more than 1000 people.
The event was attended by Ulvi Bakhshaliyev, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Republic of Moldova, Jahangir Salimkhanov, Adviser to the Minister of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Tural Safarov, Deputy Head of Department of the State Committee on Work with Diaspora, Tahmasib Atakishiyev, a staff member of the Committee, representatives of the diplomatic corps and Azerbaijani diaspora, Ion Grosu, Head of the Moldova–Azerbaijan parliamentary friendship group, members of the Parliament of Moldova, representatives of the Ministry of Culture, Science and Education of the Republic of Moldova, and the Agency for Interethnic Relations, as well as other government officials and public figures.
In his opening remarks, Elchin Bayramov, Chairman of the Congress of Azerbaijanis in Moldova, emphasized that Muslim Magomayev was an irreplaceable artist for the Azerbaijani people and played an important role in the development of Azerbaijani–Moldovan cultural relations. “For Azerbaijanis, the name of Muslim Magomayev is a special source of pride. Many residents of Moldova also know him well and highly appreciate his artistic legacy. This evening is not only a tribute to the memory of a great artist, but also another manifestation of the cultural dialogue and friendship between Moldova and Azerbaijan,” he stated.
The concert program featured representatives of the Moldovan opera school, Alexei Botnarciuc (bass) and Gulnara Railianu (soprano), who performed works from Muslim Magomayev’s repertoire. Their performances were warmly received by the audience.
The musical evening entitled “Love and the Sea” was not only a tribute to the memory of the great artist, but also served as a vivid example of the relations between Azerbaijan and Moldova based on mutual respect, friendship, and cultural cooperation. The event once again demonstrated the importance of initiatives aimed at preserving and promoting national cultural heritage.
