The seminar was organized by the “SEN1SEN” Think Tank and the “Palazzo Mandrilli” Gallery, with technical support from the Fund for Support to Azerbaijani Diaspora under the State Committee on Work with Diaspora of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Municipality of Cassine.
The event brought together senior officials of public institutions from various countries, leading European scholars, international experts, museum directors, archaeologists, and specialists in the study, preservation, and management of rock art heritage.
One of the core objectives of the event was to introduce the Gamigaya Rock Art Complex, nominated by Azerbaijan for inclusion on the UNESCO World Heritage List, to the international scientific and professional community.
The exhibition titled “Messages from Millennia: Gobustan Petroglyphs,” organized under the leadership of Professor Malahat Farajova, representative of the Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Arts, presented Gobustan’s ancient rock carvings, their historical and cultural significance, as well as Azerbaijan’s rich rock art heritage to an international audience.
During the seminar, scholars and experts shared insights on the role of rock art in human history, contemporary scientific research in the field, and recent findings. Subsequently, a memorandum of international cooperation outlining future directions for joint projects and development in rock art was signed.
The seminar was significant in promoting Azerbaijan’s rock art heritage to a wider international audience through the use of modern digital technologies.
