Turkuaz Turkic Art and Culture Foundation, operating in Toronto, Canada, organized the Turkuaz Turkish Multicultural Festival in the City of Vaughan, Ontario.
Dedicated to Canadian Multiculturalism Day, the festival brought together the rich cultural heritage of the Turkic world and offered a vibrant program to thousands of visitors. More than 40 cultural booths representing Turkic communities featured traditional cuisine, handicraft exhibitions, cultural presentations, pottery workshops, the art of ebru (paper marbling), Turkish coffee preparation and tasting, as well as entertainment activities for children. Over 25 professional music and dance ensembles representing Azerbaijan, Türkiye, Uzbekistan, Georgia, the Crimean Tatars, Uyghurs, Tatars, Bashkirs, and other communities showcased the rich cultural diversity and shared heritage of the Turkic world.
The Azerbaijani pavilion attracted particular attention from visitors. Guests were introduced to Azerbaijan's historical landmarks, national dances, cultural values, and rich heritage through informative presentations and displays.
More than one thousand people attended the festival, where the Azerbaijan House in Canada, the Tabriz Azerbaijani Music and Dance Ensemble, the Hamilton Azerbaijani Community, and the Support Center for Azerbaijani Women proudly presented Azerbaijan's rich cultural heritage. Performances by students of the "My Azerbaijan" weekend school, operating under the Azerbaijan House, created memorable moments for the audience. The professional performances of the soloists, dancers, and musicians of the Tabriz Azerbaijani Music and Dance Ensemble, dressed in colorful traditional costumes, captivated spectators.
The heads of the Turkuaz Foundation, Nasrin Attari and Shervin Shadpour, spoke about the foundation's activities aimed at promoting Turkic cultural heritage in Canada. They emphasized the importance of strengthening intercultural dialogue, preserving the shared heritage of the Turkic world, and fostering mutual understanding among different communities.
At the end of the festival, all performers were presented with awards. Special appreciation was also expressed to the volunteers, sponsors, partners, and members of the organizing team whose contributions ensured the success of the event.
Members of the Azerbaijani community expressed their gratitude to the Government of Azerbaijan, including the State Committee on Work with Diaspora of the Republic of Azerbaijan, for their support in organizing the festival.
