The delegation of the State Committee held official meetings in Hatay and Kahramanmaraş

On the occasion of the September 27 - Remembrance Day the delegation led by Valeh Hajiyev, the First Deputy Chairman of the State Committee on Work with Diaspora of the Republic of Azerbaijan, who is on a visit to Turkey, held a number of official meetings in the cities of Hatay and Kahramanmaraş.

During the meeting with Kürşad Karaca, District Governor (Kaymakam) of Payas district in Hatay province, and Bekir Altan, the Mayor of Payas Municipality, an exchange of views was held on strengthening the brotherly relations between Azerbaijan and Turkey.

An initiative was proposed to name one of the streets in Payas “27 September” and one of the parks “Victory”. The proposal was positively received and added to the agenda of the municipal council.

The delegation’s next meetings were held with Mükerrem Ünlüer, Governor of Kahramanmaraş, Fırat Görgel, Mayor of the Metropolitan Municipality, and Professor Alptekin Yasım, Rector of Sütcü İmam University.

The meetings also highlighted that Azerbaijan and Türkiye always stand side by side, based on the principle of “One nation, two states”. In particular, the participation of Presidents Ilham Aliyev and Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in the opening of the "Azerbaijan" residential complex, the Heydar Aliyev School, and the foundation laying ceremony of the Azerbaijani Cultural Center in Kahramanmaraş in June this year was emphasized as a vivid example of the brotherly relationship.

The meetings were attended by MP and professor Vasif Gafarov, Executive Director of the Fund for Support to Azerbaijani Diaspora Akram Abdullayev, People’s Artist Samir Jafarov, Advisor to the Chairman of the Türkiye-Azerbaijan Associations Federation Parviz Mammadzade, Head of the Hatay Azerbaijan House Başar Kömür, professor of Sütcü Imam University Togrul Ismayil, Associate Professor Marziya Mammadli, lecturer Hamran Amirli, and others.

At the end of the meetings, the parties exchanged commemorative gifts.
