New projects for Western Azerbaijanis living abroad take start
23 January, 2025The State Committee on Work with Diaspora has launched new projects related to Western Azerbaijanis living abroad.
First and foremost, an electronic database of Western Azerbaijanis living abroad has been created, and work in this area is being carried out systematically. The database collects detailed information on the countries where Western Azerbaijanis reside, when they migrated to those countries, and the fields in which they are employed.
The Committee has also started producing special programs about the lives and living conditions of Western Azerbaijanis abroad. These programs are being prepared as special editions of the “Homeland Is Not Far Away” program authored by Vasila Vahidqizi and are broadcast on the Committee’s YouTube channel, Diaspora TV, as well as on Public Television. So far, filming for these programs has been conducted in the US, Kazakhstan, Türkiye, and several other countries.
This year, a series of interviews with Western Azerbaijanis living abroad is planned to be prepared and broadcast on the Committee’s internet radio, Diaspora FM.
It should be noted that the Committee plans to organize a forum of Azerbaijani youth living in Eastern Anatolia in 2025, which is one of the major projects related to Western Azerbaijanis. The forum, aimed at increasing attention to our compatriots living in Eastern Anatolia in line with the Concept of Return to Western Azerbaijan, is planned to be held in one of the cities of Iğdır or Kars.
