Fuad Muradov, chairman of the State Committee on Work with Diaspora of the Republic of Azerbaijan met with the Minister of Sports of Georgia, Shalva Gogoladze, and the Georgian delegation as part of their visit to Azerbaijan.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Ministers of Sports, Deputy Chairman of the State Committee on Work with Diaspora, as well as other officials representing both sides.

Discussions were held on the activities of Azerbaijanis residing in Georgia, their contributions to various sectors of the country, as well as to the development of ties between Azerbaijan and Georgia. The sides also explored potential future projects, new cooperation mechanisms, and partnership opportunities.

Fuad Muradov who warmly welcomed the guest, highlighted the friendly and brotherly ties between the two countries. He spoke about the projects implemented abroad in line with the strategic priorities set by President Ilham Aliyev. He also provided detailed information about Azerbaijan Houses, Coordination Councils, as well as weekend schools abroad. The Committee Chairman stated that 9 centers are currently operating in Georgia, including Azerbaijan Houses. Weekend schools, Azerbaijani and Georgian language courses, sports programs, and various other classes have been established at centers operating in Tbilisi, Bolnisi, Gardabani, Lagodekhi, Rustavi, Marneuli, Sagarejo, Dmanisi, and Sadakhlo. Additionally, legal assistance is provided to our compatriots. Currently, more than 900 individuals attend courses offered at these centers, with 300 of them participating in various sports programs. The centers organize a variety of events, including celebrations of important national days of both countries. It was also noted that this year, over 100 Azerbaijani youths have been admitted to prestigious universities in Georgia.

It should be added that there are currently 31 Azerbaijan Houses operating in 20 countries around the world.

It was noted that the projects implemented in Georgia, particularly preparatory courses for secondary and higher education, as well as sports programs, play a significant role in enhancing the educational opportunities and legal awareness of Azerbaijanis, as well as in developing their skills in sports and high technologies. During the meeting, it was also emphasized that Azerbaijani youth living in Georgia show great interest in sports and have repeatedly achieved victories in various competitions.

Shalva Gogoladze expressed his gratitude for the warm reception and emphasized the necessity of continuing the committee’s projects aimed at Azerbaijanis in the future as well. The Minister stated that Azerbaijanis living in Georgia are an important part of the country's population, safeguard its interests, and contribute to Georgia’s success in various fields. The Minister also expressed confidence in the continued success of mutually beneficial cooperation.

During the meeting, participants shared positive views regarding the integration of Azerbaijanis living in Georgia into society and their deepening knowledge of the Georgian language. They also expressed gratitude to the Azerbaijani state for the attention and care shown to Georgians living in Azerbaijan.
