An international scientific symposium dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the Department of Azerbaijani Language and Literature within the Department of Contemporary Turkish Dialects and Literature at Kars Kafkas University in Türkiye, was held.

The event dedicated to the 5^th anniversary of the Victory in Karabakh, and October 18 - the Day of Restoration of Independence, was held at the initiative of Kars Kafkas University, with the support of the State Committee on Work with Diaspora and the Consulate General of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Kars.

The event commenced with the playing of the national anthems of Azerbaijan and Türkiye, and the dear memory of martyrs of the two countries was commemorated. Videos about the Karabakh Victory and the history of the mentioned department were shown.

MP of Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan Hikmet Babaoghlu, director of Ataturk Center in Azerbaijan and academic Nizami Jafarov, Consul General of Azerbaijan in Kars Zamin Aliyev, Vice-Rector of Kafkas University in Kars Engin Kılıç, head of a department in the State Committee on Work with Diaspora Javid Ismayil, the Education Advisor of the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Turkey Najiba Nasibova, deputy chairman of the Federation of Turkish-Azerbaijani Associations Sattar Kaya and others, delivered their congratulations on the occasion of the 5^th anniversary of the Victory in Karabakh, and October 18 - the Day of Restoration of Independence, wished success to the symposium's proceedings.

The symposium continued with the panel discussions with experts from Azerbaijan, Türkiye, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan.

The music room titled “One Nation, Two States” was opened at the “Prof. Dr. Fahrettin Kırzıoğlu Science and Art Center” in Kars.

At the opening ceremony, the role of the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev in strengthening Azerbaijan-Türkiye brotherhood was highlighted. Satisfaction was expressed for the efforts of both countries’ presidents – Ilham Aliyev and Recep Tayyip Erdoğan – in reinforcing the fraternal relations between the two nations. The importance of deepening cooperation in various fields, including culture, was also emphasized.
