Budapest, the capital of Hungary, hosted the 7th meeting of the heads of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) member countries’ state institutions responsible for diaspora affairs.

The assembly, moderated by Lörinc Nacsa, State Secretary for Hungarian Communities Abroad at the Office of the Prime Minister of Hungary, was attended by Kubanychbek Omuraliev, Secretary-General of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), Fuad Muradov, Chairman of the State Committee on Work with Diaspora of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Murat Kazancı, Deputy President of the Presidency of Turks Abroad and Related Communities of the Republic of Türkiye, Bakyt Darmankul uulu, Deputy Minister of Labour, Social Security and Migration of the Republic of Kyrgyz, Kahraman Sariev, Chairman of the Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Interethnic Relations and Issues of Compatriots Abroad, and Daniyar Kadirov, President of the Otandastar Foundation of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The current state of the communities abroad of the OTS member states and the opportunities for cooperation were extensively discussed at the meeting, with particular attention given to strengthening coordination and common objectives.

Fuad Muradov, Chairman of the State Committee on Work with Diaspora spoke about the establishment of the OTS based on the Nakhchivan Agreement at the Summit of Heads of State of Turkic-speaking countries. The Chairman stated that bilateral and multilateral meetings, various programs, forums, and initiatives carried out in accordance with the Joint Action Strategy of the Turkic Diaspora adopted within the OTS framework make a significant contribution to the expansion and strengthening of cooperation among the countries.

Representatives of the OTS member states shared their experiences, highlighted cooperation opportunities, the geographic spread of communities abroad, and the potential of representing their countries, emphasizing the importance of carrying out future activities based on common strategies.

At the event, a video summary prepared by the State Committee on Work with Diaspora, and reflecting the results of cooperation within the OTS framework, was presented.

As a result of the multi-faceted exchange of views and productive discussions, the “Joint Action Plan on Diaspora” for 2026 was adopted.
