Another Azerbaijan House and weekend school opened abroad

The opening ceremony of another Azerbaijan House and Azerbaijani language weekend school under the house was held in Stuttgart, Germany. The National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan was played, and the sacred memory of the martyrs was honoured with a minute of silence.

The opening ceremony was attended by Fuad Muradov, Chairman of the State Committee on Work with Diaspora, Samir Rzayev, Counsellor of the Azerbaijani Embassy in Germany, Makbule Kochak Kachar, Consul General of Türkiye in Stuttgart, Azerbaijanis who living in different European countries, and various cities of Germany, as well as heads of several Azerbaijan Houses operating abroad and members of local community.

Gunay Mirzayeva, Chairwoman of the Azerbaijan-Germany Cultural Centre, delivered a report on the activities and initiatives of the centre and the Board of the Alliance of Azerbaijanis in Germany.

Fuad Muradov, Chairman of the State Committee on Work with Diaspora spoke about the modern diaspora policy implemented under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev and the diversification of joint activities with the diaspora. He noted that Azerbaijan Houses and weekend schools were opened in various countries of the world. Chairman extended his congratulations on the opening of another Azerbaijan House and a weekend school operating under it in Germany, describing this as a clear testament of the state’s care for Azerbaijanis living abroad.

It was noted that Azerbaijan Houses, weekend schools, as well as “Karabakh” online schools established at the initiative of First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva, represent a highly successful model for diaspora engagement, which offers unique advantages and resources for third and fourth-generation Azerbaijanis to learn their native language. Implementing this model in Stuttgart, one of the important regions where Azerbaijanis live compactly, is especially significant.

Videos featuring the speeches of the President of Azerbaijan were showcased at the event.

Altay Rustamli, Chairman of the Alliance of Azerbaijanis in Germany, along with Board Member Amir Ali Sardari Iravani, Consul General of Türkiye in Stuttgart Makbule Kochak Kachar, and several community figures delivered speeches, describing the opening of the Azerbaijan House as a symbol of unity among our compatriots.

The participants viewed an exhibition titled "Pomegranate" by Italian artist Francesco Macco.

The opening ceremony was followed by an artistic program.

It should be noted that including the Azerbaijan House opened in Stuttgart, a total of 32 Azerbaijan Houses are currently operating in 20 countries around the world. More than 90 weekend schools operate in 24 countries. Some of these schools operate within Azerbaijan Houses, while others function under diaspora organizations and cultural centres or independently. The State Committee on Work with Diaspora provides every Azerbaijani weekend school abroad with textbooks and teaching materials. Azerbaijanis, as well as foreigners who have friendly attitude toward Azerbaijan use the services of Azerbaijan Houses and weekend schools free of charge. Notably, following the Head of State’s recommendation, the number of Azerbaijani weekend schools abroad is growing and their reach is being broadened.
