The Coordination Councils of Azerbaijanis in Finland, Sweden and Norway organized a video conference on "January 20 tragedy: historical and political aspects."
The event dedicated to the 31st anniversary of the January 20 tragedy was attended by coordinators of the Coordination Councils for Finland, Sweden and Norway Ulviya Jabbarova, Irada Aliyeva Soderberg, Ramil Aliyev, our compatriots from Sweden, Norway, Finland, Turkey, Austria, Germany and Azerbaijan. The event began with a minute of silence in memory of our martyrs who died for the independence and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan. Leading researcher of ANAS, historian-scientist Firdovsiya Ahmadova, who was invited to the event, gave an excursion to the events of 31 years ago and spoke about the historical and political aspects that led to the events of January 20. She noted that the USSR leadership, led by Gorbachev, had committed a ruthless war crime against our people, and that the January 20 tragedy was a page of honor and heroism in our history.
During the discussions, the participants, who witnessed the events, recalled what happened that night and the following days. It was decided to take the initiative to give an international legal assessment to the events of January 20.
The video conference ended with music dedicated to the martyrs.
